The Wonderful Company is an organic food company well-known for their almonds and pistachios. With a diverse, multilingual workforce, they place a strong emphasis on safety in planting, harvesting, and product preparation.
Enhancing Safety at The Wonderful Company with Bilingual Safety Training Animation
The Problem
The Wonderful Company operates large-scale agricultural operations with a diverse, predominantly Spanish-speaking workforce. Safety training needed to be fully bilingual — not translated as an afterthought, but designed from the ground up as a dual-language experience where Spanish-speaking employees felt equally prioritized, not accommodated.
The equipment used across Wonderful’s operations — specialized harvesting machinery, packaging systems, storage infrastructure — is expensive, proprietary, and difficult to film safely under normal working conditions. Traditional training approaches would have required either on-site filming with live equipment (a safety risk in itself) or generic stock footage that bore no resemblance to the actual work environment.
Our Solution
Ninja Tropic created a library of character-led animated videos where each character, scenario, and piece of equipment was illustrated specifically for Wonderful’s operations. The 3D-style illustrations accurately depicted proprietary machinery without the cost or risk of live filming, giving employees a realistic visual reference for the equipment they operate daily.
The bilingual production strategy treated English and Spanish as equal primary languages — not a translation of one into the other. Voice talent, on-screen text, and subtitle timing were developed in parallel, ensuring that both language versions delivered the same instructional quality and cultural resonance.
The Result
- 6,000+ Employees Trained: The animated library reached Wonderful’s entire operations workforce across multiple facilities in English and Spanish, establishing a consistent safety standard across the organization.
- Higher Completion Rates: The animated format and dual-language accessibility drove completion rates substantially above previous text-based training benchmarks.
- Reduced Equipment Risk: By providing visually accurate, equipment-specific safety guidance, the training reduced the gap between what employees learned in training and what they encountered on the job — a critical factor in preventing accidents.
