The Challenge
Dr. Tisdall had decades of pathology expertise captured in lecture format — but converting that expertise into a scalable online education platform required a production approach that could keep pace with his curriculum output. Traditional agencies quoted timelines and budgets that would have made the project economically unviable. Freelance marketplaces couldn’t guarantee the consistency and process discipline needed to maintain quality across hundreds of hours of content.
The core technical challenge was creating the visual effect of real-time whiteboard writing — letters, diagrams, and annotations appearing as if drawn by hand in sync with the lecture narration — without requiring Dr. Tisdall to film in real time. The experience needed to feel live and dynamic, not pre-recorded and static.
Tools and Process
Ninja Tropic developed a proprietary whiteboard animation process specifically for this project. Dr. Tisdall’s existing screencast recordings became the source material; the production team converted his digital whiteboard sessions into professionally animated sequences using calligraphic fonts with letter-by-letter opacity animations, custom-drawn diagrams replicated in Photoshop, and frame-by-frame timing synced precisely to the narration in After Effects.
A dedicated two-person production team and account manager were assigned exclusively to the ClinicoPath account, creating a reliable production cadence that treated each month’s lecture content as a structured production sprint rather than a series of individual projects.
